I. Presentation

Riding motorcycle means acceleration, but also slowing down. For nearly 20 years, Kit Cross is now exclusive importer in Belgium of the brand Premier, a British producer of brake pads, break-shoes and brake disks for motorcycles, quad-bikes, mountain bikes and karts. The policy of the factory is to avoid importations of brake products from the third world.

The production is European or American, the factory is very modern, the technical quality is the main concern of this European leader in the area of brakes.

II. Technical information

A) Premier brake pads

Brake pads are available in different qualities for all uses.

P Serie Organic kevlar based brake pads which allow powerful breaking on all road and sportive motorcycles (not off-road). Very efficient braking but only for a limited durability. More than 250 references. Organic Premier brake pad
PH Serie Racing break pads made of metal for high performances and strong friction. Made in the USA according to an exclusive method. Maximal durability and unequalled performance for heavy breaking and great speed or high temperatures. More than 125 references available for sport motorcycles and scooters. Racing brake pad
PR Serie Metal component FRITTE (bronze) of high density for off-road and quad-bikes (sand, mud, water). Very long durability. Should be used on the back wheel. 100 references available. Metallic off road brake pad
PX Serie Off-road quality between P and PR at reasonable prices. A good compromise of effectiveness and durability, especially with dry or semi-dry weather. 40 references available. Off road brake pads
RPH Serie Quality for circuit competition only. Do not use for road motorcycles. 40 references available. Brake pads for race only

Gold Fren is our second brake pads brand. Since 1991 the factory Gold Fren produces a broad range of brake pads for road and off-road motorcycles. Since 2000 Goldfren produces also a large range of brake discs.

Kit Cross has specifically chosen the off-road and quad bikes range of excellent quality at reasonable prices and notably:

K Quality 100% metal
Metal ceramic alloy with very small metal and bronze particles.
Use: off-road
dry grounds: only the back wheel
wet grounds: back wheel and possibly the front wheel
Very long durability
high friction coefficient
AD Quality 75% Metal
Metal ceramic alloy which is a little softer than the K quality, but offers a better sensibility for braking
Use: road and off-road
long durability
very high friction coefficient
Convenient for all grounds dry and wet
Very good compromise between efficiency and moderate wear off

On order:
S3 and S33 quality: off-road racing
GP4, GP5, GP6 quality: On road circuit racing

C) Premier brake shoe

S Serie Premier offers a range of more than 170 references of breaks shoes for cyclos and motorcycles. Produced with alloys made under high pressure with asbestos free covering. Premier motorbike brake shoe

D) Brake discs

1) Presentation

The serial production of break disc on motorcycles has really started with the 750 Honda Four from 1969, afterwards when perforated it was quickly used for competition motorcycles and often doubled in the front. This system transforms the kinetic energy of the vehicle into heat which vanishes at the level of the brake disk and the break pad.

For nearly 20 years now, Kit Cross is the exclusive importer of the brand Premier in Belgium, an English manufacturer specialised in breaks, brake pads and clutches for motorcycles and quads.

The factory is new and has therefore modern machines; the technical quality is the main concern of this European leader in the area of breaks.

2) Technical information

Fixed discs  The external rings (external part) are of the same material as the central shrink disc. Brake dics for motorbikes and scooters
Floating discs   The rings in stainless steel and the shrink disc (often aluminium) are related by locating rings which leave free moving space to the disc, the locating units allow the perfect positioning of the rings in relation to the brake pads. Floating brake disc for motorbike

The discs for road motorcycles are delivered in original dimensions or diameters. In circuit or off-road competitions the discs can be over-scaled.
  • OMX dics : Diameter 280 mm delivered with special aluminium bracket.
  • Supermoto discs 320 mm with variable flexibility, delivered with special aluminium bracket.

Furthermore we have many break discs from different origins in stock:
  • JT brake discs: new range 2008-2009. Fixed and floating discs (model WAVE) of excellent quality and at interesting prices.
  • NG brake discs: Made of stainless steel which does not rust. Fixed and floating discs, supplier of most Spanish motorcycles (Derbi, Rieju, etc).
  • Kit Cross: Produced in our shop, anti-wear steal 100kg. Very long durability. For your off-road motorcycle and quad bikes.

3) Practical information

The brake disc assembly has to be done by a qualified mechanic. The break is a delicate element and an erroneous fixture could cause an accident.

Advice for professional mechanics

  • Never use worn break pads with new break discs.
  • Respect the tightening torque (according to the handbook) of the fixing bolts, use a threadlocker.
  • Meticulously clean the break calliper.
  • Adjust the brake pads exactly in the centre of the brake calliper.
  • Check the level of the break oil.
  • A folded disc following a choc can never be straightened again, change at the same time the 2 front discs and the front brake pads.
Run-in process

  • Break carefully 50 to 60 times, then stronger and stronger; the break pads need to adjust to the discs.
  • Avoid the frosting of the break pads.
  • An ideal run-in-process takes between 200 and 300 km.

Regular controls

Verify regularly (every 2000 km) the following points:

  • Wear-off limit of the disc
  • The possible presence of oil
  • Working of the brake calliper, fixations, and bolts.

In competitions: check after every race.
